硅藻土的助滤特性大致有以下几点：
1.性能稳定，适应性好。由于硅藻土助滤剂主要由二氧化硅组成，所以化学性能稳定，在不同温度和浓度的酸液中也能适用，不影响其原液的基本性质。
2.可获得较高的滤速和理想的澄清度。硅藻土助滤剂尺寸差异大，骨架坚硬，富有单孔和复孔及多种形状的特点，致使过滤的过程中滤层无法紧密结聚，具有较大的表面积和较大的孔隙度，从而达到较高的滤速和理想的澄清度。
